Phone: 877-445-8667 More information will be provided throughout the transition Reunion 2012 promises to deliver an exciting and comprehensive weekend: Representatives from
the C of E Alumni Association, Newsletter staff, Membership Committee, and History
and Memorabilia staff will be on hand at the reunion, as well as
representatives from Emporia State University, and Sterling College. These representatives will join us to update
the C of E Community about current activities of the Alumni Association and
Kansas private higher education. Several
of these guests will speak at the Alumni Association Business Meeting on
Saturday morning, October 6, 2012. Primary focus was
placed on keeping expenses for all activities to be covered by the registration
fee. Since registration will be a key
factor, there will be 2 committees working closely on the process. The
Administrative and Resourcing Committee, consisting of Dave Braymer, Dave
London, Dan Hickey and Ray Sager will provide the initial registration form for
review at the C of E Alumni Association Meeting on Saturday, January 21,
2012. A second committee is the Registration
Operations Committee, staffed by Barry Yelenik and Richard Brenner to oversee
the physical set-up of the registration process, hours of registration,
enclosures, special gifts, scheduling volunteers and registration process
training and accounting. A site plan
should be ready for discussion at the March 10th workshop. Most of the
committees are adequately staffed. The
class years between 1964 and 1974 are represented. The years from 1954-1963 will be
consolidated. Here are the
committees and their staff. Communications
& Administration Committee-Larry Kincus & Bill Standish have
formulated the reunion announcement letter which you will see in the spring,
inspiring all alumni to attend. This
committee will translate future reports of minutes into a more readable format
to include in the C of E Facebook and the Website to share with the entire C of
E community. You can stay up to date by
tapping into both popular sources as your up-to-the-minute report. C of E Golf
Tournament Coordinator-Andy Sabol (65) will select a local Valley
Forge/King of Prussia golf course and provide instructions for the tournament
to accompany the registration form. Andy
must have an estimate of potential C of E golfers for reunion tournament. Please email him at avs222bway@gmail.com to indicate
your interest. Tee times are extremely
competitive in the Philadelphia area and require early reservations. Events and
Activities Committee-Barbara Bonsangue (70) and Mary Jayne Gamble (70) are
overseeing this committee with a large responsibility. Mary Jayne provided the
Valley Forge Convention & Visitors Bureau Suggested Tour Itinerary. The website is www.valleyforge.org and email is tours@valleyforge.org. Barbara volunteered to select a special gift
for the registration packets and Raoul Nolan (70) volunteered to assist with
the C of E Sales items. He contacted Carolyn Day (60) about selling her hand
embroidered C of E garments and invited her to the reunion to assist in selling
her wares. Raoul also offered to take
orders for special C of E shirts. Mary
Jayne discussed collecting scanned pictures from our C of E days to display at
various events during the reunion. Volunteers
will assist with the information and guidance.
Both Barbara and Mary Jayne are working diligently to see that all
aspects of good communications and information are available for all attendees. Occasionally, even
the best plans are overcome by events.
The 2012 Reunion is no exception.
Our host hotel, the Dolce-Valley Forge was purchased by Hilton and will
now be called the Doubletree by Hilton Philadelphia-Valley Forge. We have been assured that things will go
seamlessly. Also, the reunion committee
has decided to return to the original idea for its theme, and not continue with
the reunion theme contest. The theme of
the reunion will be “Now and Then,” with appropriate reference to “130 years on
the Yellow Brick Road”. At the Friday
Night Mixer we recommend that the attendees wear something original from C of
E. Beanies would be very appropriate as
well as any sweaters or shirts from your C of E campus days. Additional details will be provided in future
correspondence. The 4th
Reunion Workshop will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 1:00 PM, hosted at
the home of Mary Jayne (Barnes) Gamble (70).
The address is 169 Warren Glen Road, Fineville, NJ 08865 (gamblemj@mail.com). We have a wonderful, enthusiastic committee
which continues to welcome new volunteers.
Please contact Mary Jayne or Roger Sager (rsager@warwick.net, 973-222-5899) and
let them know if you will be attending the March 10th meeting. Plans continue to take shape for this 130
year historical reunion. Stay tuned!
